Overview
Group 3 Technology have developed and patented a unique method for enabling the direct communication between two parties over the internet technology with the ability to efficiently transit Network Address Translation devices (e.g. Routers). It differs from current VoIP methods such as Peer-to-Peer file-sharing, and does not require Service Provider hosting of calls (e.g. through session border controllers)
In order to demonstrate its effectiveness, this "end-to-end" (e2e) technology has been incorporated into a fully operational and functioning VoIP platform complete with real telephone numbers. One element of the technology is embedded in Service Provider equipment and the other in end-user software and browser-based applications. The Service Provider's task essentially deals with user authentication and initial call set-up; with all communication traffic going directly over the internet between the users themselves, hence significantly reducing Service Provider bandwidth requirements.
The technology does not require any Proxy, STUN or Session Border Controllers to be deployed by the Internet Phone Service Operator, and does not rely on hosting any element of call signalling or calls in progress.
